5 Strategies I’m Using to Grow
My Business in 2019
by Cheryl Laidlaw
I left it to the last minute to think about the different strategies I’m going to use in 2019 to grow my business because if I say them out loud, I have to do them, right? Well here it goes…
1.Stories
Instagram stories were on the top of my list in my 2018 blog last year and they are definitely going to stay there! I have grown my followers from 4K to 21K and picked up 7 clients as a result of making them a priority and new habit in my day-to-day life. I do anything from 4 to 18 stories per day. Usually my stories are just me talking to camera about what I’m doing and where I’m going. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can achieve this year n my Instagram account.
2.Video
Yikes… I said it! Video! Yep this year I’m going to have my own YouTube channel! Now I haven’t worked out yet what lovely content I’m going to bring to you so I better get creative! BUT it’s going to happen! I know how powerful video can be and I tell all my clients to do this all year round when I work with them and yet still I don’t practice what I preach! Disgraceful! So, It’s time to get busy.
3. Blogging
Blogging should be on everyone’s list and I know I’m guilty of not partaking in this important marketing strategy for years. I was lucky if I did 4 or 5 a year! I know, really bad! Last year I think I managed to complete 12 so I’m getting better but that number definitely isn’t good enough. Blogging is so much more than writing. Blogging gives you the opportunity to create relevant content for your clients and drive traffic back to your website. If you want to be seen as an expert in your field your blogs need to be consistent. With this in mind I’m going to get into the habit of scheduling a content creation day once per week!
4.Networking
Networking will never fall off my marketing strategy because to this day I still get referrals from people I used to network with 5 to 10 years ago! Meeting people face to face is still the best way to get business and make new contacts. Taking the time to do this is so important to my business so this year I’m going to add 4N networking events to my schedule. I will still attend Sister Snog, Contacts and Cocktails, Spark Event and The Allbright. Let me know if you have any recommendations of where else I should visit.
5.Email Marketing
Email Marketing is still a great way to market your business, with the GDPR privacy laws that came in in May 2018, I think it scared a lot of business’s and potentially put them off, but it shouldn’t. I’m not the best at consistently sending my Newsletters but when I do, the results of engagement are really positive. There are plenty of platforms you can use and even free ones. Just make sure the content that you are sending out is valuable to the reader. There is so much noise out there, make sure that you are sending out creative and valued content that creates a fantastic open rate every time.
